Caregiver Factors

A caregiver is someone who is responsible for the care of someone. The tasks often include:
- Help someone with a chronic illness or disease.
- Help manage medications, other interventions and support decision making. Possibly talk to doctors and nurses on someone’s behalf.
- Help bathe or dress someone who is frail or disabled.
- Help take care of household chores, meals, or bills for someone who cannot do these things alone.
Caregiver factors are sub-elements of the Patient influences & support factors which are elements of the psychosocial factors in patient recovery.
Caregiver factors that could influence patient recovery:
- Caregiver assistance with ADLs
- Caregiver assistance with IADLs
- Caregiver assistance with medication administration
- Caregiver assistance with medical interventions
- Caregiver assistance with medical and care decisions
