These are the Socioeconomic Status Determinants that are that can decisively affect patient well-being and patient recovery. The top unmet basic needs that effect clinical outcomes are: housing, food, finances, transportation and literacy.

Income

  • Current income and stability
  • Profession, occupation
  • Job Status - Employed, part-time, unemployed
  • Job Benefits - Sick Days/Leave Availability,
  • Educational Attainment - Completed levels of formal education,
  • Literacy
  • Employment/income History

Financial

  • Financial Health - Income, Wealth,
  • Patient Contributions Capabilities to health care,
  • Financial Constraints (Debt, family commitments)
  • History - Credit Rating

Health Insurance

  • Employer Health Insurance, Cobra, etc.
  • Medicare, Medicaid, private plan
  • Health Plan Terms - Deductibles, co-payments, provider network, etc.
  • Potential eligibility for Medicaid, disability or other subsidized insurance program
